I wanted to do detailed posts about each aspect of the wedding, but post-wedding life (ie. kids) has left me so busy, that I figured I’d just post everything that I had in case it inspires anyone else. Really, so much amazing work and craftsmanship went into this wedding, and so much Harry Potter love, that it would be a shame not to showcase it. Enjoy!

The groom’s accoutrements: a yellow ascot, pocket handkerchief, cream/white linen shoes and striped suspenders.

The groom and groomsmen, dressed in a classy yet casual style with funky colours and subtle patterns.
-
-
The bridesmaids could choose their own dress from a variety of well priced stores in both America and Canada, as long as they fit the general magical feel, and grey/pale purple colour scheme. They did an amazing job!!!

-
Side view of the bridal bouquet, showcasing the dark jewel tones which helped created a dramatic mood. The florist did an amazing job!

The seating was a delightful array of mis-matched old wooden chairs under a majestic tree at Brock House in Vancouver. This would also work beautifully for a bohemian contemporary wedding.

A whimsical stack of Hogwarts suitcases and birdcages filled with flowers helped set the mood at the wedding ceremony
-
-
A beautiful vintage chalkboard set up on the lawn helped keep track of score on the Quidditch pitch. Ha, I just realized that quidditch is misspelled but I don’t think anyone noticed.
-
-
Beautiful ribbon-wrapped quidditch pitch hoops, and leather volleyballs, gave guests a bit of fun after the ceremony
-

A beautiful whimsical corner of the wedding was set up to let guests rest on real vintage couches and chairs. An old-timey lamp, retro chest, and golden flower-filled birdcage helped create a romantic bohemian feel.

The seating chart was hand scribed on a long piece of parchment. Guests were arranged by Hogwarts tables, of course (Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin and Hufflepuff). The table was draped in blue velvet and arranged with vintage items such as old globes and clocks.

The guests were, of course, arranged in four long tables, just like in the Hogwarts Great Hall! Keys hung up above
-
-
The floral arrangements on each table flowed off the edges, adding to the whimsy and bohemian rustic flare

Since the wedding was in a tent, the decorator created a magical false wall, using hanging picture frames, drapes in flowers. Such an innovative and relatively cheap trick to make a great impression with party decorating :O

A vintage cart formed the base for a whimsical candy table! All your grandma’s favourites were on display in antique glass containers, complete with silver scoops!
-
-
Inspired by the greenhouses in Harry Potter’s herbology class at Hogwarts, the glass conservatory was transformed completely! A clever mix of fake and real plants blended seamlessly to create the effect.

Here I come, with all my Harry Potter inspired items working together! Dark and twirly bouquet, Edwardian cameo necklace, lace collar, lace mermaid-cut gown, shimmery makeup, tiara and updo! There aren’t pictures that really captured it, but they set off some colourful smoke bombs as I walked out of the building

The officiant was amazing. he found out how to do some magic tricks, like incorporating this paper that goes up in flames!

The real stars of the night were beautiful, real owls. Not only were they kind enough to grace our guests with their presence at the photo booth, but one owl actually flew down the aisle and delivered the rings!!!

The bride and groom walking down the aisle, with our 1 year old son!

My bridesmaid, Linda, looking fantastic and quite magical! The key to a classy Harry Potter wedding was the small touches, like the intricate dress beading, gold chain jewelry, and unconventional flower choices like foxtails and thistle!
-
-
Our amazing hair dresser, Aaron Brousseau, playing an exemplary game of Quidditch
-
-
Our amazing officiant, Darian Kovacs, and beyond amazing wedding planner, Jessica Hume of Petite Pearl events, at the rad real owl photo booth.

The bride and groom at the real owl photo booth. We really wanted a classy photo booth, with no cheesy props, but a beautiful keepsake. Each guest got a copy of their picture along with the thank you note. Gucio Photography did a fabulous job creating these mystical, blurred, black and white images. Such a show stopper! but I must admit, this was partially inspired by Sean Parker’s wedding. Actually, a lot of things were inspired by Sean Parker’s wedding lol! It was such fun!

We didn’t want our guests to waste time waiting, so we did our “first look” photos before the wedding. But after the ceremony, we did go down to the beach to take these romantic shots, with smoke bombs!
-
-
Since the roof of the tent was already lit up, better than candles, the decorator arranged flying keys, like the ones that guarded the Philosopher’s Stone in Harry Potter!

A closer picture of the vintage doughnut tower and the beautiful assortment of artisanal doughnuts as well as other goodies on the dessert table. A feast worthy of Hogwarts!
-

At night, after dinner, the conservatory-come-greenhouse was truly magical! A smoke machine and lighting helped set the creepy mood of herbology class.
-
-
Blue thistle was used throughout the wedding as a haunting and creepy, and understated, yet very beautiful element.
-
-
A close up of some of the amazing elements that went into making the greenhouse, including crimson pitcherplants, mosses, poppies, air plants, succulents, Monstera deliciosa and so much more!

Up above, the chandalier also got the green treatment, with chenille plants and ivy.

Two beautiful, hand-made broomsticks from Granville Island, help set the mood in the greenhouse

Here is our beautiful, “antique”, doughnut tower (in lieu of wedding cake). It’s just vintage goblets and silver plates stacked and glued together! The floating wall of picture frames looked especially haunting and magical at night!

The decorator brought in these amazing bar height tables, made of tree trunks! It was functional for a wedding reception, but also added to the plant greenhouse vibe
