Rings
We picked out the engagement ring together at Spence Diamonds in Langley (bottom ring). It was a modest carat by today’s standards, but we really liked the antique design, so we worked with the sales representative to make it slightly more expensive. “I’ve never had to do this before,” he said, hahaha. The band is platinum and all the diamonds, even the tiny ones, are “flawless”.
I ordered the wedding band online from Brilliant Earth. It was also in platinum, to match the engagement ring. It was quite nerve wrecking waiting for something so expensive to come in the mail!!!
The sales guy told us that platinum oxidizes over time and would give us that antique look. Now, that’s not actually true. Platinum is very resistant to corrosion. However, it is naturally more grey than silver, so it kind of gets you that antique look right off the bat. I’m happy to report that in time both rings have accumulated a lot of dark dirt so they look old anyway.
My husband also ordered his ring online, from a different website which he can’t recall.
Makeup
I’m really picky with this type of stuff, and kind of a control freak, so I decided to do my own makeup. I’m really happy with how it came out, and I saved a few hundred bucks! I used a youtube tutorial. I bought the exact make up mentioned, and practiced two times before the actual wedding. Because of the Harry Potter theme, I wasn’t searching for wedding makeup tutorials, but wanted something more interesting. I know wedding make up is meant to be worn for long periods, but our ceremony was at 6pm, so I didn’t really need to worry about it lasting forever. I did minimal makeup on the rest of my face. I googled a bit about face contouring and did a bit, but nothing crazy. I think I borrowed a friend’s tinted lip gloss.
This is the awesome tutorial that saved the day:
Nails
I got acrylic nails. The base was a skin tone, with a gold sparkle & rainbow sparkle ombre on top. And a few jewels on the ring fingers =)
Earrings
I’m happy to report that I picked up these earrings at WalMart for $3.99. Gotta save where you can ;)
Shoes
I picked up these beauties at Value Village (second hand chain) for $7.99!
The furs pictured were faux furs from a fabric store that I picked up to make a shawl, but didn’t quite go as planned.
Conclusion
Everything looks good with a little bokeh, no matter the price ;)
