Magical Wand Wedding Favours

It was only appropriate that our wedding favours should be Harry Potter inspired wands! We were able to get a mass order from the “Chinese Ebay”, DHGate.com. I’m not sure about the authenticity of the products there, and the packaging was sketchy, but the actual wands were very nice!

Labels

The boxes that the wands came in were usable, but the labels on them were A. really ugly and B. by character name. We didn’t want to give people a wand with a wizard’s name as a label. We wanted the guests to feel like they got a custom wand picked out just for them, just like in the Harry Potter universe! So I designed my own wand labels with some tinkering in Photoshop and mixing some graphics from around the internet, and from what I could find from pictures of movie paraphernalia. We did some research and wherever possible, put the known wand components on wand stickers (eg. “Wood: Holly, Core: Phoenix Feature” for Harry’s wands). For the ones we couldn’t identify, or who’s components were not known, we made them up.

There were two stickers for each box: a round Ollivander’s sticker for the middle of the box, and a sticker describing the type of wand, on the side of the box, to cover the character’s name.
We tried our best to remove the stickers that came with the wands, but it wasn’t always possible, which is why the new stickers were strategically placed on top of the old ones.

Presentation

Once the stickers were in place, our wedding planner wrapped the boxes in brown parchment paper, and had a professional calligrapher hand write each guests’ name on their box. This way, the type of wand they got was a surprise until they sat down at the table! She then sealed them with wax.

The first file contains the Ollivander’s stickers for the middle of the boxes.
There are 10 in each file, print as many copies as needed.
Print these on any 2″ x 4″ sticker label sheets available at any stationery store.
Each sticker says:

“Ollivander’s
Makers of Fine Wands since 382 BC
One Hand-Crafted Magic Wand,
Chosen Especially For You.
Forged in London, England.”

Ollivander’s Wand Sticker Labels

The next files are the stickers which went on the ends of the boxes. There’s about 10-12 of each wand type, and there’s 14 types of wands. I think we only ordered like 100 wands so I guess I must have had extras. All of the labels are on separate layers, so feel free to shuffle them around, and duplicate layers if you need more labels (or less).
These are also printed on the same 2″ x 4″ sticker label sheets as the Ollivander’s labels. But because multiple labels are squished into the same rectangles, you’ll need to do a bit more cutting.

Hi! I’m having a Harry Potter wedding as well. I just wanted to say thank you so much for posting your sticker templates. It’s saved me so much time as I am doing chocolate dipped pretzels in wand boxes as my favor.
